Performance

The Plugable USBC-SATA-E provides portable access to SATA III transfer speeds up to 6Gbps! The Plugable USBC-SATA-E enclosure uses the same ASMedia ASM1351 chipset as our USBC-SATA-V upright SATA dock, and our USBC-SATA24 adapter cable. This means you have access to USB 3.1 Gen 2 transfer speeds up to 10Gbps right in your pocket.

Performance depends on the capabilities of your computer and hard drive. For example, a SATA II SSD over USB-C with this cable will still be limited to SATA II transfer speeds.

Form Factor

Keep your drives safe with the sleek black airbrushed aluminum enclosure with toolless sliding plastic cover. Premium 6 inch (24 cm) shielded USB-C and USB 3.0 cables turn any compatible SSD or 2.5" HDD into an external hard drive. We chose these cable lengths after extensive testing to provide users the most flexibility without sacrificing performance. Bus power proivded by USB means no additional power supply required for power your 5V SSDs and HDDs.

Compatibility

Native compatibility with Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS - no additional software or drivers required. Fully compatible with most SATA I/II/III 2.5" SSDs and HDDs up to 11mm thick and 5V power draw. Supports both USB-C ports including Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1 Gen 2 standards, as well as legacy USB 3.0 ports.

Not compatible with drives that require more than 5V power draw. This includes some high performance and enterprise 2.5" hard disk drives and all 3.5" hard disk drives. For these drives, we recommend the Plugable USBC-SATA-V hard drive dock instead. Not compatible with SAS drives or IDE drives.
